What to Record When You Spot an Irrigation Problem

When you notice an irrigation problem, you do not need to identify the failed part before contacting us. What helps most is a clear description of where the issue is and what you saw. For a large commercial property or HOA, those details make a service request much easier to evaluate.

Start with the location. Give us the property address and a useful landmark, such as a building number, entrance sign or parking island. If you know the irrigation zone, include it. A marked site map is helpful when several areas look similar.

Next, tell us what caught your attention. A sprinkler spraying across a sidewalk, water pooling beside a head or a wet area that persists between watering cycles each gives us a different starting point. Describe the observation in your own words. You do not need to decide whether it is a broken head, leaking line or another issue.

Include the date and approximate time, whether the system was running and whether it had recently rained. If you have noticed the problem more than once, those dates are useful too. Timing can help us understand a concern that may not be visible continuously.

For photos, we recommend one wide view showing the location and one closer view of the visible problem. A short video can show spray direction while the system is already operating. Keep yourself out of traffic and leave electrical enclosures closed. If the system has been shut down or winterized, do not restart it just to record the issue.

Finally, tell us if water is affecting a walkway, entrance or other area people use. That context helps us understand the concern and discuss the next step with you.
